Insulin Resistance

When insulin in the blood is elevated and blood sugar is still normal, it is called pre diabetes or insulin resistance. Insulin is elevated because the insulin secreted by the pancreas can't do a proper job and the more insulin is secreted until the blood sugar is back to normal. This causes a higher than normal insulin value in the blood.

The main goal with the treatment is to have a stable blood sugar during the day and to control weight. If weight is not controlled and weight gain occurs it may result in Diabetes Type II. The diet is planned with the goal to have a stable blood sugar during the day. To achieve that low GI carbohydrates need to be spread in the correct way. The composition of meals and type of carbohydrate that you eat is also important.
